About Me

Within my whole lifetime, creating and making art has been a huge aspect. From taking painting outside of school to different levels of ceramics and now photography I feel as though my range of knowledge, as well as creativity, have skyrocketed overtime. Pablo Picasso once said,"The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." I am in complete agreement with this statement because my whole life I have used art as my calming place. Whether it’s painting a flower, sculpting a bowl, or capturing low lights with a camera, art has brought me a way to escape all of the stresses and has allowed me to block out things around me and just focus on myself.

I was never the best art student in my class or the most advanced, but that didn’t matter to me. This year in photography I have grown tremendously. I always had an interest in taking taking pictures and I have brought my camera with me as I traveled across the US  to the west coast, and as far as central Europe. With these trips cane more and more photography opportunities; however, I was never fully aware of the different functions on the camera and that film photography was what it was.

Photography has pushed my limits by making me step outside my comfort zone and try new methods of photography as well as educate me on the functions of both film and digital photography. Before photography class, I had never used a dark room, so having that opportunity to develop my own pictures really made me appreciate art more and showed me that photography is so individualized. I like how In the dark room you can control the exposures and filters by changing the time and amount of light and you see your pictures develop. I am inspired by my art teachers because I look up to their creativity and love for art.
